Advanced Independence Charity

A nonprofit organization

Advanced Independence Charity is committed to giving individuals with disabilities work experience and helping people in need through our thrift store. We know that every moment is a learning moment and we are committed to awakening the giant within every person we touch; so that they will become independent.

Established in February 2006, Advanced Independence is dedicated to providing quality home and community-based services to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Under the guidance of its founder, Cynthia Edhuine, Advanced Independence grew from a small home-based business in 2006, serving five individuals, to an operation that, through the years, has served over 1,000 individuals. Currently there are 120 members served daily in a variety of settings, including home-based non-medical care, group supported employment, job training and opportunities, and a day program that offers individuals a place outside the home where they can socialize with their peers and learn life skills in a safe environment within the community.
Additionally, the company has recently opened a thrift store in the West Valley that will allow our individuals an opportunity to enhance their job skills while earning an income, and to interact with the community in a retail type setting.

We are committed to finding individuals that are disabled and don't have any government assistance help in preparing them for a job in the community. We need monies to sponsor a individual with disability to go through our program so they can get the same work experience as other individuals. We have two individuals now that need sponsorship. We want to support more through our program in hopes to be able to hire them to work in the store and get paid.

Testimonials

We have had one individual go through our program and we found him a job working with KFC, he was in the program for 6 months. He now working independently for Spencer's Place. We currently are working with two other individuals to develop work experience in a community setting; working in Glorious Treasures Thrift Store. One of our individuals loves to come to work and usually like to stay as late as possible even when everybody else is gone home. The other individual that the charity sponsors says this is the best place and they are so happy they found us (they come twice a week and also works at Spencer's Place).
