Alamo Head Injury Association, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

Our mission is to improve the quality of life and well-being for survivors of a traumatic or non-traumatic brain injury, and their families and caregivers.

Alamo Head Injury Association (AHIA) assists survivors of brain injuries in identifying resources, providing a support system for survivors and caregivers, and providing information about the recovery process.  AHIA offers financial assistance to survivors of a moderate to severe brain injury to enable them to obtain things needed in their recovery journey such as medical care, home accessibility modifications, specialized equipment (DME), job training/certifications, or education.  Over the last several years, AHIA has tripled its funding for its grant program and helped twenty-four families in 2024.

AHIA also provides survivors, their families and caregivers with a supportive community.  AHIA offers monthly support group sessions that provide opportunities to hear the stories of others and know they are not alone in their journey.  AHIA also hosts special events throughout the year for its survivors, families and caregivers to give them an opportunity to celebrate their progress and successes.

AHIA continues to expand its outreach & advocacy activities to provide more awareness and education about brain injury prevention.

AHIA seeks to increase the number of survivors, caregivers and family members it helps with its various activities, endeavors, resources and emotional support.

Your generous donation will help us to continue and to expand on this journey to help individuals and families in our targeted communities!
