All About Horses Rescue and Sanctuary

All About Horses Rescue and Sanctuary is a nonprofit that focuses on rescuing and caring for equine in need. We strive to allow our horses as much time at the rescue as they need to decompress from prior trauma. Although our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and adopt - a large percentage of our horses that come to the rescue end up being permanent sanctuary residents due to age or medical needs. All donations to the rescue help support the continued care of our horses - and keep our gates open for future horses in need.

AAHRS strives to help horses in need of a safe landing, whether it be owner surrenders, neglect case seizures, or medical emergencies. With AAHRS being one of the only horse rescues in the west Texas area, we work closely with law enforcement, as well as our local animal control when they take horses in. Although our goal is to rehab and adopt horses out to their forever homes, we typically keep our medically fragile, older, and unrideable horses due to them being harder to place. We adopt out our younger, more capable and healthy horses. That's why we're considered both a rescue and a sanctuary. When we adopt our horses, we adopt under contract and continue to follow all of our horses progress through the years. We currently house 51 horses at our rescue consisting of several hundred acres.
