Andover Historical Society

A nonprofit organization

The Andover Historical Society was established in 1982 to preserve the history of Andover, New Hampshire, through the acquisition and conservation of property, artifacts and stories; and to foster an awareness of and appreciation for that history within the community. We maintain four historic buildings and two rail cars at Potter Place Railroad Station and the Tucker Mountain one-room schoolhouse in East Andover.

After celebrating our 40th Anniversary in 2022, highlighted by the dedication of a new marker commemorating the life and works of our celebrated Black ventriloquist and magician Richard Potter, adding Potter Place to The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire, we are poised to embark on an exciting and bright future.
The Society’s museum buildings are open to visitors during the summer on weekends from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. Hours are Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM and Sundays from 12:30 to 3 PM.

Memberships and contributions are gratefully received. The Andover Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. For further information, please contact the Andover Historical Society at PO Box 167, Andover NH 03216 or Pres@AndoverHistory.org.
