Angelo Civic Theatre

A nonprofit organization

The mission of Angelo Civic Theatre is to culturally enrich, educate and entertain through the art of theatre and theatrical performance and to encourage community participation in all aspects thereof.

Angelo Civic Theatre has been a part of the Concho Valley since 1885 when officer's wives put on a play to raise money for the town clock. Where did the clock go? We don't know! What we do know is that ACT is the oldest running theatre group in the state of Texas!

ACT has survived two world wars, a depression, and now a pandemic. It continues to provide the opportunity for the community to participate in live theatre as well as entertain audiences in our area of West Texas, visitors around the state and beyond. For more 139 seasons and counting, ACT has produced numerous shows each year with the help of community volunteers.

With volunteer opportunities for all ages both on and off stage, Angelo Civic Theatre is a center of performing arts in San Angelo. This is only made possible by community support from the support of our friends and neighbors of the Concho Valley.

Testimonials

"Every show, every scene, is just so amazing--so much work goes into it. Angelo Civic Theatre is a wonderful place to go and a lot of fun. All of the performers are amazing, and they all work very hard on the shows." --Lila Murphree Cantrell, volunteer/set construction

"I love the community at ACT! We hear the word community used so often, but truly experiencing a good one is life changing. We all work so hard on each production, and become close spending so many hours together. Everyone at ACT is so supportive, welcoming, and kind!" Stevi Stevens, volunteer/actor
