The YES Campaign
Because Every Animal Deserves a YES.
For 24 hours, we’re asking for help so we can keep saying YES.
YES to the family struggling to keep their beloved pet at home.
YES to the animal who has nowhere else to go.
YES to the dog or cat who arrives scared, sick, injured, or simply in need of someone to believe in them.
At AWS Freeman-Fritts Vet Clinic & Shelter, every YES represents a second chance.
WHY THIS YEAR, WE’RE SAYING YES TO THE SHELTER
After both devastating floods, we saw a tremendous need in our community—and we knew we had to look outward.
We shifted our focus and concentrated our resources on the Elsa Fund and Happy Tales, providing OVER 1,900 emergency assistance and veterinary care to animals and families directly impacted by the floods, many of whom never entered our shelter at all.
Those needs were immediate. They were urgent. And we were determined to be there.
But as we poured our resources into those emergencies, our shelter fund took a bit of a backseat.
This year, we want to turn our attention back to the very thing that allows us to keep saying YES to the animals who come through our shelter doors.
The fund that makes it possible for us to take them in, care for them, heal them, and ultimately get them ready for adoption.
Because the animals coming into our shelter aren’t always easy cases.
* They’re the senior dog with a laundry list of medical issues.
* The sweet stray battling horrible skin disease and heartworms.
* The fragile neonate fighting upper respiratory illness and ringworm who needs around-the-clock feedings and intensive medical support just to survive.
We have many of these cases right now.
And these are often the animals we fight for quietly, behind the scenes.
Because that’s what we do.
And it’s what we have always done.
We say YES.
YES, even when the medical needs are extensive.
YES, even when the treatment will be expensive.
YES, even when we don’t know what the outcome will be.
YES, because they deserve the chance.
Those are the smiling faces and happy tails you see on our Available for Adoption page.
And the truth is, a majority of those animals came into our care with multiple, sometimes life-threatening, medical conditions that required extensive treatment before they were ever ready for adoption.
Their routine veterinary care still has to happen after that—vaccinations, spay/neuter, medications, diagnostics, food, and everything else they need to become healthy, happy adoptable pets.
And adoption fees?
They never even put a dent in those costs.
That is the reality of rescue.
The cost of saving an animal doesn’t end when they become available for adoption. In many cases, it has already taken thousands of dollars just to get them to that point.
YES TO SECOND CHANCES
YES TO HEALING
YES TO THE ONES WHO NEED US MOST
A life that would not have had the same chance without us.
OR without you.
ONE GIFT. ONE YES. ONE MORE LIFE CHANGED.
During The Big Give, we’re asking you to help us replenish the fund that allows us to continue saying YES to the animals who need us.
Because behind every donation is:
A shelter intake.
A medical case treated.
A frightened animal given a safe place.
A senior given another chance.
A sick animal healed.
A family reunited.
A smiling face that eventually makes it onto our adoption page.
A life saved.
This year, we’re saying YES to the shelter.
And we need you to say YES with us.
24 Hours. One Big YES.
Give. Share. Say YES.
Because every animal deserves a YES.
