Annie's Rescue Ride

In 2015, Annie's Rescue Ride was founded on a simple premise: to provide safe and humane transport for small dogs slated for euthanasia at a large, urban animal control facility in Phoenix to out-of-state rescues where they would find families that would love and cherish them. Our mission further evolved to not only transport, but also to provide medical and/or behavioral rehab for dogs who, like so many others, find themselves on the euthanasia list for issues that do not warrant death. Once fully healed, these dogs would go to our designated rescue partners in Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Wyoming, where they quickly find their forever homes.

Over the years, the evolution of Annie's Rescue Ride continues. In addition to transporting and providing medical care for small dogs, we also take in FIV cats, hospice cases or extreme senior cats who need to live out their final days in luxury. When possible, cats are available for adoption, but they will always have a home at the sanctuary, Howard's Haven, in memory of my beloved cat, Howard.

And finally, we recognize the importance of keeping dogs and cats out of the shelter in the first place. We do this by providing community programs such as free pet food, sponsoring free microchip events, and small grants for spay/neuter surgeries. This multi-pronged approach- transport, rehab, and community outreach- is our mission, now and forever.
