Mission

Antioch University's mission is to provide learner-centered education to empower students with the knowledge and skills to lead meaningful lives and to advance social, economic, and environmental justice.

Description

Antioch University traces its roots back to 1852 and the incorporation in the State of Ohio of Antioch College, which was founded by American educator Horace Mann. The institution was groundbreaking as it was non-sectarian and co-educational, would not reject anyone on the basis of race, would not include formal grades, focused on experiential learning, and encouraged students to pursue individual interests.

Antioch aspires to be a leading university offering learners and communities transformative education in a global context that fosters innovation and inspires social action.
