Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (Orleans Operations)

A nonprofit organization

Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (A+PEL) is the premier educators' organization in Louisiana, advancing A+teachers as career professionals. By focusing on professional development, teacher advocacy and excellence in education, we empower Louisiana's youth for future success.

A+PEL develops teachers through high-quality professional development. We strive to provide teachers with affordable access to workshops that are relevant, authentic, and proven to increase student success. This is done through free regional sessions offered throughout the school year, low cost conferences offered in the summer, and even customized sessions for individual schools at their request.
A+PEL supports all educators. Whether they need money for classroom library books or a mentor teacher for their first year of teaching, A+PEL provides much needed support for educators who dedicate their lives to their students. We give back to teachers through grants and scholarships designed to promote student achievement. A+PEL works through local chapters to serve area teachers and even recognize outstanding community members who give back to their schools and students through the Volunteer of the Year program.
A+PEL promotes the future of education. By working with local universities in New Orleans and throughout the state, A+PEL reaches out to pre-service teachers to provide support and guidance from before graduation through job placement and beyond. University chapters provide professional development, community outreach, and a way for future teachers to connect with the larger educational community. New Orleans is host to university A+PEL chapters at Tulane, Holy Cross, Xavier, and UNO.
