API Equality-LA is an LGBTQ rights and racial justice organization building grassroots community power in Asian Pacific Islander (API) lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities in the greater Los Angeles area through community organizing, advocacy, and public education. API Equality-LA’s mission is to empower API communities to achieve LGBTQ, racial, and social justice.
Founded in 2005, API Equality-LA is a critical space for the API LGBTQ community to seek acceptance, practice collective care, and build grassroots power to advance issues that affect our most vulnerable.
Since 2020, we continued to adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and violence directed at queer and trans BIPOC communities. In response, our staff, board, and members continue to center our work on belonging, integrity, interdependence, vulnerability, and transformative relationships. Through these values, we are able to advocate, empower, invest, and care for our queer and trans API community, which you can read more about through our 2021 Year-In-Review!
This year, API Equality-LA aims to raise $15,000 for Give OUT Day in order to continue our work and invest in our future. By donating in the month of June, you can help us pursue work that centers our queer and trans Asian and Pacific Islander community’s needs and wants without fear of lack of funding.
Your support will help us to continue to organize our communities and build strong movements for social justice!
