(INACTIVE) Athens Animal Rescue Shelter

A nonprofit organization

The Athens Animal Rescue Shelter has responded to animals in need through the generous support of individuals, businesses, and foundations. We provide shelter, food, medical treatment, love, and care to every animal that is brought to our facility. Our mission is to promote the humane treatment of animals through care, education, and advocacy.

Athens Animal Rescue Shelter is a dedicated organization committed to the well-being of animals in our community. Our mission is to provide a safe haven for animals in need and to ensure they are healthy and prepared for their forever homes.

One crucial aspect of our efforts is the intake vetting process, where animals receive vaccinations, flea and tick treatment, heartworm prevention, and worming upon arrival. Depending on the age of the dog, additional tests for heartworm or parvo may be included. On average, it costs between $40-$50 to perform this essential intake vetting.

Throughout their stay at our shelter, animals receive multiple booster vaccines and various worming regimens to maintain their health while awaiting adoption or transport to out of state shelters. The rising costs of medical supplies pose a significant challenge for us, and we urgently need your support to replenish our vaccines and daily intake medicines.

Your generous donation will not only contribute to the well-being of the animals in our care but also enable us to continue our crucial work. Some of our animals find their forever homes through transportation to out of state shelters, which requires specific intake vetting to qualify. Additionally, your support will greatly assist us in spaying and neutering our animals before adoption, contributing to the control of the animal population and ensuring responsible pet ownership.

This year, spay/neuter surgery costs have increased, ranging from $85-$200 per procedure. Despite the challenges, we have managed to spay/neuter an average of 30 animals per month, thanks to the generosity of our big-hearted community.

Athens Animal Rescue Shelter owes its success to the kindness and support of citizens like you in Henderson County. We cannot accomplish all that we do without your continued assistance. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact on the lives of the animals we care for.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of animals in need. Together, we can ensure that every animal receives the care and love they deserve.
