The Arizona Transportation Education Foundation

ATEF promotes and advances highway safety and a safe trucking industry through research, education, and promotional projects. ATEF fosters educational opportunities for individuals in the transportation industry in part through the awarding of scholarships; prepares and conducts educational activities and media programs about safety; and helps develop a better understanding of the transportation and trucking industry.

One of our educational programs, Teens and Trucks, is used at many high schools in Arizona to help better prepare teenage drivers to operate their vehicle around large commercial vehicles. Additionally, participants are given the opportunity to get in the cab of the truck to witness first-hand the blind spots from the driver's seat of the commercial vehicle. This is an amazing experience for them when they learn an entire car can be hidden from sight in the "No Zone"! Please take a moment to see it for yourself in our Share the Road pamphlet. The experience of sitting in the truck is also offered to the public at our many Share the Road events.

Through ATEF we are able to participate annually in the Be Safe Saturday event in Tucson. This event focuses on education around health and safety topics. It is estimated 13,000 people attended. Many of those take the time to sit in our truck and experience the "No Zone".

The success of our program is directly related to the outstanding support from the trucking industry in Arizona. The trucking community regularly donates their time and equipment to help us educate the public and make the roads safer for all Arizonans!

Each year ATEF gives scholarships to college bound and vocational program students. In 2019 we awarded $12,000.00. It is our goal for 2020 to be able to raise $15,000.00.

Within the transportation industry, ATEF is one of only a handful of non-profits whose mission is focused on the research and public education necessary to promote a safe, economic, environmentally sound system of moving goods and providing related services.
