Each year The Arizona Wildfire Council, Inc, offers a week long academy offering 45-50 classes in wildland firefighting and all-hazard incident management. We train over 700 individuals each year with volunteer instructors and team members from fire agencies across the country; USFS, BLM, BIA, National Park Service, Arizona Department of Emergency Management, Arizona Dept of Forestry and Fire Management, and many local fire districts all support our academy by helping to teach and of course sending their personnel. Over 80% of our students are from Arizona, with the other 20% (130 Students) representing approximately 20 other states. We work closely with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University to utilize their campus for our training. We provide over $25,000 in scholarships each year, mainly to rural and volunteer fire districts that are often the first defense in a wildland fire.
Many students return year after year so they can receive the best training in the region.
