Bakersfield Museum of Art

A nonprofit organization

Art is meant to touch your soul and to make you feel.  Love or anger, sadness or joy, peace or turmoil, your feelings are encouraged and welcomed.  Standing face to face with a painting is like entering the mind of the artist.  The movement, the colors, the purpose and final creation cannot leave the viewer unmoved.

The cultural fabric of our community benefits by having the visual arts make our city a more beautiful place to live.  And, individuals young and old benefit by participating in art education and creating their own unique works.

The Bakersfield Museum of Art, Kern County’s only accredited art museum, has been promoting the visual arts in Bakersfield for 60 years.  Help us continue this legacy for the next 60 years!

There are many areas where Volunteer Pledge hours are welcome:

Docents Training and Tours

Teachers for Educational Programs

Facilities & Garden Maintenance

Exhibition Set Up

Events

Monetary donations help us provide exceptional exhibitions and educational programs.

Standing face to face with a work of art, seeing the movement, the colors, the purpose, and the final creation, leave the viewer moved. Sharing this experience with others develops a cultural foundation and entices others to take part. Art is meant to touch your soul and to make you feel by speaking a language without words. Love or anger, sadness or joy, peace or turmoil, your feelings are encouraged and welcomed.
