Our Story:

There is an epidemic of people who are struggling with addiction (substance abuse) in our community, this causes the breakdown of families, job loss, and homelessness.

We help people struggling with addiction (substance abuse) by creating a successful treatment platform that facilitates change so that the changed individual can then in turn help the community further to be a better place.

Mission Statement:
Bakersfield Recovery Services exists to serve people struggling with substance abuse. We strive to improve our community one life at a time by restoring hope to the hopeless. 

We achieve all of this by fulfilling the promises to Inspire, Empower, and Educate our clients and community!

Who We Are

Bakersfield Recovery Services (BRS) was founded by Zane Smith in 1987 with Jason's Retreat, our male facility. BRS provides an array of services to males and females who are struggling with alcohol and/or drug addiction. Currently, we provide high and low-intensity residential treatment (Jason's Retreat, Capistrano Facility for Women, and Capistrano-Lincoln Street for Perinatal), Sober Living for males and females, Transitional Housing, and outpatient services (Jason's Retreat Intensive Outpatient).
Clients receive group and individual counseling, as well as spend time learning or refreshing skills, such as household responsibilities, skills for daily living, social skills, family communications, money management, and physical hygiene.
Our main objective is to offer our clients the dignity and grace to rebuild and maintain citizenship and spiritual awareness as they recover from drug and alcohol addiction to become essential beings in our community.
