HAMPTON ROADS' PREMIER YOUTH ENSEMBLES

Since 1972 Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia (BYOV) has provided dynamic opportunities for young orchestral musicians to receive professional training and live performance experiences. Our uniquely comprehensive program features sequential ensembles where students can progress from near beginners to college music majors. Since our inception we have grown to over 300 musicians annually through six formal concert performances and over 2,500 audience members.

Students rehearse weekly from September thru May and are instructed by some of Hampton Roads’ locally respected educators and talented professional orchestral musicians. We also offer recital opportunities, masterclasses, outreach performances, coachings, collaborations, and travel opportunities to augment weekly training. By participating in BYOV, our members are receiving an unmatched music education experience while they grow to become contributing members to society through the arts.
