Beauty for Ashes Ministry

Beauty for Ashes has been working in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Corrections through a Memorandum of Understanding since September 2011. The following is an overview of our partnership and program:

 Beauty for Ashes Reentry operates within the Missouri Department of Corrections, starting at Women's Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in 2011 and expanding to Chillicothe Correctional Center in 2017.

- Beauty for Ashes Reentry is a 12+ month reentry program open for application from any female inmate with at least a year remaining on her sentence.

- We are a Christ-centered program, but there are no faith requirements. Everyone is welcome!

- Our reentry program consists of 3 trimesters:
o 1st trimester focuses on healing emotional and mental wounds from childhood trauma and abuse. This is what sets us apart and is a key to our success.
o 2nd and 3rd trimesters include courses on reentry, life skills, healthy relationships, spiritual formation, and cognitive therapy.
o Home Plans include a support system of community partners, churches, and Beauty for Ashes staff/volunteers.

- The recidivism rate for members that complete at least 12 months of Beauty for Ashes Reentry drops to 20% -- less than half the rate of the Missouri state average.

 Shielded by Faith Recovery Center (SBFRC) is a diversion program located in Troy, MO and serves women throughout the state.

- Residents do not have to have health insurance to qualify for this 12 month drug and alcohol recovery program.

- In addition to individual counseling and group therapy, residents have access to health, wellness and nutrition classes; vocational education opportunities; and tutoring for those who have
not yet earned their high school diploma, all as part of a comprehensive focus on healing and restoring the whole person.

- SBFRC is in its first year. Our impact will be tracked as alumni of the program reintegrate back into their communities and families.
