Benedek Memorial Library

Hello Austin here! I’m the unofficial mascot of Dr. Sandor and Berthe Benedek Memorial Library in the village of Savona. Welcome to our fundraising page.  We are a small rural library with the services of a large library. We even have a group of pups called the Library Dogs. You can see them, along with our events on our website: https://benedekmemoriallibrary.org/. I would like to introduce you to our newest member: Pippin! Pippin is a young Italian Greyhound pup at six months old and loves to come and visit the library. He loves listening to stories and playing in the children’s literacy room. This year we are raising funds to enhance our children and young adult programming. Each year our Summer Read Plus program continues to grow and we have added on a Winter Read Plus. These programs encourage reading by challenging young ones to read and earn books. This year the two programs have put a serious dent in our supplies and our prize books. Our goal is to raise $3000.00 to be able to bring more enhanced programming for young people and to purchase new prize books for all ages to keep the love of reading going strong.

 All are welcome to use the library. We honor library cards from all of the 48 libraries in the Southern Tier Library System. Besides the traditional service of allowing patrons to borrow materials from our collection, such as books, magazines, audio books, music CDs, DVDs, and even some video games. We also give the community access to all of the collections in 48 other libraries, along with digital collections of e-books, digital audio books, and digital magazines. We provide to the rural communities around Savona free access to high-speed internet 24/7, public computers, and copier/printing/faxing services. We even have educational, entertaining, and community programs for all ages to enjoy. We are always growing our library, growing our communities.
