BGCC IS ALWAYS HERE...FOR THE KIDS...AND THE COASTSIDE!

For over 28 years, BGCC has been here for the Coastside. Here are some of the community needs we fill:

  • When CUSD cut funding for middle school sports, BGCC stepped in and now funds and manages Cunha After-School Athletics, which offers 8 sports -- basketball, cross country, flag football, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling -- for over 350 girls and boys in middle school.
  • When the mental health challenges of youth people increased after the pandemic, BGCC organized resources to provide an on-site youth behavioral specialist for social and emotional support for young people and their families.
  • When middle school students need help with homework or a safe place to hang out after school, BGCC offers a comprehensive after-school program, including tutoring, mentoring, homework help, fitness, and enrichment.
  • When Teens need a place to call their own, BGCC opened a Teen Center that offers a comfortable, welcoming space for high school students providing help with homework, college and job applications, and community service opportunities.
  • When young adults need work experience, BGCC is the first employer for many local high school graduates -- giving young adults work experience and presenting young people with role models they can connect with and respect.
  • When kids are hungry, BGCC offers afternoon snacks and lunches when school is closed during the summer.
  • When Coastside families need a fun, affordable, supervised site for their kids when school is out for the summer, BGCC offers over 7 weeks of summer camp focused on old-fashioned fun -- cooking, field games, arts and crafts, time at the pool, and local field trips.
  • When parents need care for their children over other school breaks, BGCC offers enrichment camps during breaks for youth in grades 1 to 8.
  • When COVID-19 restrictions closed schools and moved to online teaching, BGCC opened remote learning pods for youth without internet access.
  • When local sports programs want to include more Coastside youth, BGCC is here as a partner -- including Half Moon Bay Soccer Club serving over 150 competitive soccer players ages 8 to 18, Coastside Basketball offering developmental and competitive experiences for girls and boys through programs managed by Gabe Glynn and John Parsons, and a partnership with the Half Moon Bay Golf Links to introduce golf to girls and boys and help experienced players prepare for the competitive high school golf teams.
  • When the Coastside needed sports facilities, BGCC helped raise funds to build and maintain facilities, including the Event Center, the Cunha Soccer Complex, Cunha tennis courts, Half Moon Bay High School baseball field, softball fields, and football field and the Skate Park at the Ted Adcock Community Center.

In short, your contributions provide academic, sports, social-emotional, and enrichment programs for

over 1000 Coastside kids -- and help build and maintain facilities used by over 5000 community members.

When you donate to BGCC, you invest in Coastside's future.
