Brazos Interfaith Immigration Network

OUR HISTORY

In October 2010, a small group of members from a variety of churches in Bryan-College Station, Texas began meeting monthly to share our concerns about issues faced by immigrants in the community. After assessing the needs and existing resources, the group organized the Brazos Interfaith Immigration Network in May 2011. The new organization chose as its purpose to facilitate better access to legal, educational and social services for the immigrant population, who otherwise may not receive them.  We believe that improved access will contribute to the well-being of the immigrant population of Brazos County and therefore of the entire community.

OUR MISSION

BIIN's mission is to promote the human dignity and well-being of all immigrants in our community and to advocate for and facilitate better access to legal, educational and social services. We believe that improved access to services contributes to the health and well-being of the whole community.

OUR PROGRAMS

BIIN runs three primary programs to help meet the needs of local immigrants- all at no cost. 

Our IRA program hosts a legal clinic that provides assistance and/or referrals to resources in Bryan-College Station. The IRA program assists in completing various USCIS applications (naturalization, residency, DACA renewals, work authorizations, asylum, passport renewals, TPS, visas, etc.). We also assist with official document translations, notary services, information on immigrant legal rights, power of attorney document preparation, and we offer free legal consultations with a licensed immigration attorney weekly on Saturdays. 

Our Citizenship Program offers two 10-week sessions each year, in both English & Spanish, to help local residents prepare for the citizenship exam and interview through studying U.S. history, government, and civics. Our ESL Programs offers three levels of English classes all year around. 

The ESL classes are designed to help participants prepare for the naturalization exam and interview, increase their abilities to use English in the workplace, in daily life, and actively support bilingualism at home and in their children's education in local school.

On top of this, we have recently brought back our BIIN Cares program. BIIN Cares was first launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many American citizens faced significant financial challenges during this time—and received relief through stimulus checks—our immigrant community did not have access to such support. However, thanks to the efforts of BIIN Cares, the program was able to raise funds to assist with bills and provide essential support to our immigrant neighbors. In August of 2025, we reinstated the program to continue serving our community. BIIN Cares is a program dedicated to meeting the emergent needs, specific to our local immigrant community. As immigration policies continue to change, our immigrant neighbors face unprecedented challenges; making the need for support and accessibility to resources vital to navigate the shifting landscape. Our two initiatives under this program are the Helping Hands Fund (assisting families impacted by ICE activities) and the Immigrant Legal Aid Fund (assisting immigrants with the complexities of the immigration process).
