Bluegrass Council of the Blind, Inc.

$4,255 raised by 31 donors

Every day, thousands of Kentuckians with low or no vision navigate challenges that intersect with age, income, race, disability, and rural access: barriers that can make everyday life more complicated without support.

At Bluegrass Council of the Blind, we’re changing that.

100% of our services support people with disabilities, and more than 60% of our clients are living in poverty. Nearly three-quarters are over 55, navigating vision loss at the same time they are coping with other age-related challenges. And while we never require clients to disclose demographics, we know that the need is even greater than the numbers show.

We serve people in 102 of Kentucky’s 120 counties, with a primary focus on the 11,500 adults in Fayette and surrounding counties who are blind or visually impaired, as well as the families, caregivers, and service providers who support them. But our commitment extends beyond geography. Blindness knows no boundaries; it affects people from every walk of life, every background, and every identity.

And so do we.

BCB is here to make sure people with low or no vision can live meaningful, healthy, connected lives as independent and active members of their communities. We prioritize those who are too often overlooked, facing poverty, isolation, and limited access to resources, and we work every day to close the gaps that keep them from equal opportunity.

Today, your donation becomes immediate impact.

On a day built for fast action and real change, your support powers tools, training, advocacy, and connection for someone who may have nowhere else to turn.

Give now. Fuel independence. Change a life.
