$15,000 Goal
Over the past 29 years, Bluegrass Land Conservancy (BLC) has saved over 33,000 of our most critical acres from future development. Our work at Bluegrass Land Conservancy centers on the heart of the Bluegrass and conserving our land and land resources, helping ensure the beauty of the Bluegrass remains intact for future generations. With a goal to permanently protect and steward lands critical to agriculture viability and community character in the Bluegrass region, Bluegrass Land Conservancy works on a daily basis with landowners across the region to conserve land through voluntary conservation easements.
Your support makes everything we do possible!
BLC has already protected 800 acres of farmland and natural lands this year (about the area of Central Park in New York City); however, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. We are currently working with 35 landowners to protect an additional 9,075 acres of farmland and natural lands.
Your gift today will help us protect these important places forever!
OLDHAM COUNTY: THE WETLANDS
In the Fall of 2023, Janey Newtown decided to put her love for land into action and place a conservation easement on "The Wetlands," a 62-acre farm in Oldham County, which is part of a larger conservation block of other permanently protected neighboring properties totaling approximately 1,500 acres.
In working with her family on this easement, Janey told Bluegrass Land Conservancy that she loves "this land and knew she wanted to keep it safe for future generations. Like many Kentucky counties, Oldham has lost some of its rural character and I want to do my part to keep as much of that intact as possible."
" I have always wanted to protect this place,
a space where nature and agriculture coexist." -Janey Newton
Our mission and focus remain stronger than ever as we continue to grow to meet an increasing demand for conservation. Your continued support is crucial for our land protection work, which plays a vital role in our region’s quality of life, economic growth, and healthy environment.
We invite you to consider giving a gift at this critical time.
By investing in BLC’s land conservation efforts, you are not only safeguarding the environment for future generations but also preserving the unique character and charm of the Bluegrass region. Together, we can ensure that our children and grandchildren experience the wonders of nature and create lasting memories in this treasured place we call home.
Since 1995, the Bluegrass Land Conservancy has protected over 33,000 acres of farmland in our 26-county region of central Kentucky. We focus on preserving wildlife habitat, natural resources, farmland and fresh food, clean waterways, iconic landscapes, and cultural, scenic and historic locations. We elevate the importance of land as part of our regional identity, ensuring a high quality of life for current and future generations.
