It is also a part of the US Department of State International Education Week activities.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE MATCHING FUNDS: Have your donation doubled, plus an option for free career counseling when you give to Brazos Valley Worldfest
Collins Career Counseling, a career exploration service, is collaborating with BV Worldfest for this year's Brazos Valley Gives. For each donation made on Oct. 18, Collins Career Counseling will give a matching donation in the same amount. In addition, the first three donors who give $50 or more will each receive a gift certificate for an hour of free career advising ($125 value).
BVW was founded to create a more welcoming environment for all of our citizens and to promote international awareness. Our community is very unique in that it hosts students, faculty, staff and their families who study/work at TAMU and Blinn College from more than 125 different countries! We feel we are all better global citizens when we better understand each other and are able to connect on a personal level.
The festival is FREE to attend as well as no charge to the organizations who wish to share their cultures. Activities include culture displays, demonstrations, arts and crafts, international cuisine, storytelling, souvenir passport program, performances on stages and more. We are dependent on sponsors, grants and fundraising to keep the festival going! Please support this valuable community event!!
"It's in our community's interest to connect with so many different student organizations. To meet and greet and in some cases renew friendships, and to know different students who are in our community for the first time." Charles Martinez, executive vice president of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation
"This event was awesome! This festival gives students a chance to take learning outside of the traditional school environment and experience the world as their classroom. They had the chance to learn about different cultures, economic issues, customs, rituals and much more at the festival." Syzie Tyson, Social Studies Teacher, Escamilla Intermediate, Aldine ISD
"Oh, BVW is an important event for the community and for the children to be exposed to a diverse range of people, traditions, beliefs to help them better understand and grow into adults that are accepting of others." Lindsey Curry, volunteer
