A Home Worth Living In

It all started with a simple but heartbreaking realization: too many developmentally disabled individuals living independently were struggling in conditions no one should have to endure. No stove to cook a meal. No refrigerator to store food. Plumbing that did not work. Electricity that was not safe. Homes that were not truly livable. One of the biggest challenges is Pest infestations.

Our Goals

Our goals for this year are:

1. We aim to raise awareness about the challenges faced by developmentally disabled individuals in independent living.

2. Establish partnerships with all of the Supportive Living Services we have currently in Kern County.

3. Raise our target amount for this year to help cover the cost of appliances, repairs, pest control and possible relocation if needed.

4. We aim to recruit volunteers who can help with our initiatives, spreading the word and providing hands on assistance.

Our Mission

Our nonprofit was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that developmentally disabled individuals have safe, functional, and comfortable living environments where they can thrive. We step in where traditional services fall short, helping to provide essential appliances, repair unsafe conditions, and tackle critical issues like pest control.

Our Impact

Since our founding, we have seen the incredible difference that even small changes can make. A working stove means the ability to cook healthy meals, a repaired plumbing system restores basic hygiene and comfort. Sage electricity means peace of mind. and effective pest control creates a truly livable home, free of fear, stress, and health risks.

One of our first projects was helping a man named Ron. He had medical conditions that require healthy meal preparation but did not have a working stove in his house. We were able to find him a stove and install it along with the disposal of his old stove. Another client named Gabe had a sever case of bedbugs that came out of no where and fast. He was one of the fortunate to have extended family who were able to pay for the pest control but were at a loss on the man power or funds to clean up the mess. Our team went in and cleaned the house from ceiling to floor, cleaned all the cabinets out along with all furniture that was salvageable. We also fixed a hole in the ceiling with a drywall patch and replaced his couch. The Joy on Gabe's face to have his home back free of all stress and anxiety of the situation was priceless. The impact was immediate in both cases: better nutrition, improved health, and a renewed sense of confidence in their independence.

Our Vision

We Believe that everyone deserves a home that supports their well-being, not one that holds them back. Our goal is to expand our reach, helping more individuals secure safe functional housing while advocating for systemic changes that ensure better living conditions for all developmentally disabled individuals.

We can not do this alone. With the support of our community-donors, volunteers, and advocates we can transform lives, one home at a time.
