For 20 years, Bryn Mawr Film Institute (BMFI) has been more than just a theater -- it has been a cultural hub, a film education center, and a home for shared cinematic experiences. As a nonprofit, member-supported organization, we are dedicated to entertaining, engaging, and educating our community through the magic of movies.

BMFI presents an extraordinary selection of new and classic films, arts and cultural programming, and thought-provoking events featuring filmmakers, scholars, and experts. We bring the power of film to all ages, from our Family Matinees and nature documentaries for younger viewers, to our arts presentations that bring the stages of New York and London, and the museums of Florence and Paris to our patrons who can no longer travel to these destinations. 

We also support emerging artists through our Open Screen Mondays and Summer Filmmaking Workshop, providing young filmmakers with the resources to bring their creative visions to life. Our Film Studies courses and See Hear Feel Film visual-literacy program nurture a deeper appreciation of cinema, helping thousands of students develop critical-viewing skills and creative storytelling abilities.

With BMFI's 20th birthday in 2025, we celebrate not only our past but also our commitment to the future. Central to our mission is preserving the true cinematic experience. That's why we've made a major investment in cutting-edge projection technology. Our new Barco 4K laser projectors ensure stunning visual quality, while our fully refurbished reel-to-reel system expands our ability to screen 35mm and, for the first time, breathtaking 70mm film prints.

Unlike many theaters that abandoned film projection, BMFI remains committed to showcasing movies as their creators intended. These investments allow us to continue presenting cinema in its most authentic form, delivering bold imagery, striking compositions, and vibrant color with every frame.
