Companion Animal Association of Arizona

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Companion Animal Association of Arizona, Inc. is to enhance the quality of life for people by promoting the Human/Companion Animal Bond. Our all-volunteer organization prepares, certifies and assigns pet therapy teams to facilities throughout the greater metro Phoenix area.

The Companion Animal Association of Arizona (CAAA) is the oldest social/pet therapy organization in the state. Visits from CAAA pet therapy volunteers allow residents of healthcare, memory care and assisted living facilities experience the joy of interacting with animals. These visits bring smiles and feelings of love and companionship to people who are not able to participate in an active life, as well as to staff and caregivers at the facilities we serve. Our dedicated therapy teams visit the same facilities regularly, building relationships and providing vital social interactions.

Testimonials

"The most exciting day of my week is the day Scottie comes to visit. We talk to each other and I forget my aches and pains. He reminds me so much of the dogs I've had and loved during my life." Care facility resident

"Most of the time in the nursing home, Bert kind of babbles...words we wouldn't understand. Yet when he sees a therapy animal, he starts talking at a conversational level. These visits are an important event for him." Activity Director

"I'm not sure who I'm more amazed with - the fantastic dogs or their committed pet parents. Great canine + human teams providing much-needed and valuable community service."
