Our Mission: To provide programs and facilities that enhance learning, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley.

Our Mission: To provide programs and facilities that enhance learning, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley.
This mission expresses Andrew Carnegie's vision when he built the facility to serve his workers in the steel mills. Today, many of those same workers' families are raising their own families here in western Pennsylvania, where the Carnegie - in its second century of service - continues the vision for residents of Munhall, Homestead, West Homestead, Whitaker and surrounding areas.

DID YOU KNOW? Over 700 people visit us daily to check out a book, build a resume for employment, workout or learn to swim, attend a concert, or participate in various programs. Last year, the library held 12,652 educational programs for all ages. The library has 6,648 registered users and guests, and 65,015 books and other items in circulation. Our computers
were accessed 32,619 times. We eagerly provide many services to our Steel Valley families and beyond.

The Youth Services Librarian and volunteers visit local schools and daycares for storytime. We host art and science classes for homeschoolers, an adult book club, one-on-one computer classes, genealogy research assistance, athletic programs for youth through seniors, kindergarten preparatory workshops, STEM-based afterschool programming 4 days a week, Carnegie Chess Club, robotics team for teens to build robots and compete with other schools, social programs like the Homestead Knitters - knitting club, and Coloring Café where adults can enjoy the lost art of coloring pages with friends.
