The Center for Traditional Louisiana Boat Building

The Center for Traditional Louisiana Boat Building (The Center) preserves, develops, and maintains the maritime history and culture of South Louisiana. The museum houses an extraordinary collection of boats, models, artifacts, publications and documents detailing the maritime history of our area.

The Center hosts a variety of educational programs including museum tours, boat building classes, restoration and building of antique crafts and maritime machinery. We have a lot of people interested in the boat building classes, but the materials and classes are pricey. The economic downturn of the community hasn't allowed that people to take the classes like they normally could.
