Central Adult Learn-to-Swim, Inc. teaches Louisville area adults to swim and be comfortable in the aquatic environment for free! Located in West Louisville at Central High School, our program seeks to remove both financial and emotional barriers facing adult swimmers by providing free swim lessons for adults. Central Adult Learn-to-Swim, Inc. is the sole provider of free adult swim lessons and aquatic fitness programming in Louisville.

In April 2018, we recognized a complete absence of equitable, affordable swimming opportunities for adults, and received a grant from the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation (SSLF) to begin our program. Since its inception, we have taught 500 adults to swim and feel safe around water. Our waiting list now has over 2,000 people.

In April 2019, 144 people fatally drowned in the United States: 93 were adults (USA Swimming). That same month, our nonprofit taught 70 adults to swim, free of charge! Our program has far-reaching benefits: when we create safe swimming for adults, we create safe swimming for children.

Despite our success, graduates lack access to aquatic facilities. In West Louisville, there are few public aquatic options. Our programming ensures year-round access and opportunities for West End swimmers with weekly practice opportunities, continued education programs, and Aqua Zumba.
