Coral Gables Preparatory Academy (CGPA) is a Miami-Dade County Public School with nearly 900 students in grades PK-8, celebrating its centennial year— a historic milestone that marks 100 years of educational excellence.
CGPA prides itself on offering a challenging, engaging curriculum to all of its students. The proof is in the pudding - CGPA has achieved an A grade since 2000. In addition, the PTSA recently received the School of Excellence designation for 2022 to 2024.
It's no secret that public school budgets are getting leaner every year. This is where our PTSA steps in to fill financial gaps to enhance educational and social learning environments and positively impact each student's life while at CGPA and beyond.
Our largest initiative is to fund expenses that enrich all students' education through programs that are not currently funded by the state or district. These programs include Accelerated Reader (AR), BrainPOP, Scholastic and Time for Kids magazine subscriptions, and National Junior/Elementary Honor Societies. In order to give our children a well-rounded educational experience, the PTSA also supports a variety of student clubs and organizations.
We strongly believe that providing ample resources to support various styles of learning is crucial for a successful education. Additionally, we helped fund our Media Center updates with the purchase of more functional, collaborative tables and chairs, and we have purchased supplies for our PE, music, and art classes.
Finally, CGPA believes hard work should be rewarded. We support this with Accelerated Reader, Student of the Month, Honor Roll, Science Fair, and Year End awards and celebrations. Our teachers work as hard as our students, so we also recognize a Teacher and Rookie Teacher of the Year. In 2022, we were able to award six faculty grants, which recipients used to fund creative initiatives to to enhance their curriculum and student's classroom experience.
