CHADD, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

We provide the only support groups and seminars for Pima County children and adults with Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) and are the only local resource for research and public understanding of AD/HD for educators, government and employers.

Since 1985, CHADD of Tucson has been the Cradle through Career provider of valuable parenting and life skills workshops with referral information to those with AD/HD, their loved ones, teachers and employers.

We are the sole major source of user friendly, reliable, evidence-based information concerning the diagnosis, treatment, and care of AD/HD in Pima County. If not for CHADD of Tucson, people with AD/HD, their loved ones, teachers and employers would have no means to meet, share and learn about successfully living and thriving with AD/HD in their lives.

We exist to help ensure that every child and adult has the opportunity to succeed and achieve their life potential. Our information and discussion support groups for "Parents with Children with AD/HD" & "Adults with AD/HD" meet each month. All who want to attend are welcome free of charge.

Our workshops have been conducted to teachers, parents and the general public on a variety of topics ranging from "The Pros & Cons of Medication for children and adult" to "How to adapt a mainstream class room to accommodate children with special needs such as AD/HD"─ and often offer Continuing Education Units for education professionals and others.

Our goal is to increase this educational component to offer multiple workshops to parents, school personnel (teachers, counselors, nurses) as well as to employers concerned about AD/HD's impact on the workplace.

These seminars and workshops come with budget needs in the thousands of dollars each year for costs ranging from honorariums for nationally-renown professionals, venue expenses, publicity, and material development costs.

Our website, www.chaddoftucson.com, with valuable research and informational feeds from the national CHADD organization is also the only local repository of AD/HD service providers for Pima County.

CHADD of Tucson is also the source for legislators to get evidence-based information for their bills concerning citizens with disabilities.

Without CHADD of Tucson, people with AD/HD, their loved ones, teachers and employers would have no means to meet, share and learn about successfully living and thriving with AD/HD in their lives.

Without CHADD of Tucson, there would be no place for Pima County residents to have a resource for facts about AD/HD. Teachers would have far fewer resources to learn how to adapt classroom instruction so that these children can be successful. The opportunity to create advocacy and publicity on AD/HD issues would not be as possible in our communities.

How Can I Help?

How can one person like you help over 100,000 Arizona children on or before Arizona Gives Day?

7% of our children in Arizona schools are diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) and struggle greatly to reach their potential in life.
That means that 106,400 children in Arizona need informed parents, teachers and school administrators in their lives.

Without support and intervention, these vulnerable children run the risk of dropping out of school and finding themselves involved with the law. They deserve the same promise in their lives as any other school kid.

Additionally, about 4.7% of Arizona adults - or over 325,000 of your neighbors, fellow employees and others - have AD/HD, which can negatively effect their work and home life. AD/HD is a pervasive disorder that impacts lives of all ages.

Your single donation can make the difference for over 425,000 fellow Arizonans. CHADD of Tucson is the only source for user friendly, reliable, evidence-based information about AD/HD in Arizona .

Our support groups provide a safe harbor where adults with AD/HD and parents of AD/HD children can learn how to improve their lives. We also provide consultation and workshops for professionals and schools on AD/HD.

Please visit us at Arizona Gives Day to donate whatever you can, whether $5.00 or $500.00. We are all volunteers here, so your donation goes straight to work.

Thank you for considering a donation to CHADD of Tucson.
