Circus Harmony

The moment a child realizes they have accomplished something new and that they are more powerful than they thought… the moment young people from different backgrounds meet for the first time and work together to create something amazing. This is what we do and why your contribution matters.

One of Circus Harmony’s earliest projects, Circus Salaam Shalom, brought children together from a Jewish temple and a Muslim mosque. Though the two places of worship were physically just blocks apart, the children had never crossed paths until they joined the circus. This program showed everyone - including me - how what we have in common is so much greater than our differences. 

Defy Gravity 101 students at Cherokee Rec CenterCircus Harmony is a social circus. Many of the attributes we credit to social circus can also be gained through organized sports. What sets circus apart is that circus is generally not competitive and has an artistic, creative aspect.

The Ta Dah moments that young people experience at Circus Harmony build important leadership and relationship skills; develop a sense of belonging, purpose and power; and give the realization that they are each appreciated. The intention is for the circus activity to be a path to take the participant from one point in their personal and social lives to another. In the Ta Dah moment, children see that they can be changemakers!   

Next year, Circus Harmony will celebrate 25 years as a nonprofit organization spreading harmony through handsprings, joy through juggling, and peace through pyramids. It's a lot of youth empowered! We invite you to join us in the creation and celebration of our anniversary year. Come see a show at City Museum, sign up for a class, bring us to your school, tell your friends, and make a contribution. Your support builds a community that continues to lift people up literally and figuratively. Donating is a TaDah moment itself!
