Citizens' Climate Education (CCE) is a national grassroots network with over 220,000 supporters and 380+ active chapters across the US. CCE trains volunteers to "pull the five levers of political will" which include grassroots organizing, media engagement, chapter development, influencer recruitment, and relationship building with elected officials. We equip volunteers and remove barriers to advocacy with an open-source advocacy curriculum, hundreds of workshops, fifteen annual conferences, focused engagement with underrepresented populations, and a supportive network of staff mentors. In 2023, CCE volunteers organized 2,300 grassroots events, published 2,100 pieces of media, and held 1,350 meetings with their elected officials.
CCE educates the public and builds political will for specific set of policies which, if enacted federally, would hit our 2030 US emissions goals. These policy areas are (1) clean energy permitting reform (2) carbon pricing (3) climate-smart forestry and (4) building electrification.
CCE works in concert with our sister 501c4 organization, Citizens' Climate Lobby, to build political will for specific climate solutions. Since 2020, CCL has played a major role in the passage of six bipartisan federal laws and five state laws. We also played a significant role, along with many partner organizations, in supporting the largest federal climate package in US history.
"CCE has given me, a regular everyday guy, a voice to go out there to try and change things - to try and reach those people who have the power to create political change" - Eric, volunteer since 2017 in Corpus Christi, TX
"CCE makes me feel like we can do this. We can solve climate change, and we can do it in a way that brings people together rather than tears them apart" - Chelsea, volunteer since 2015 in Portland, OR
