For over two decades, City Academy has been breaking down barriers to accessing high-quality education for families throughout St. Louis. With our scholarship program, we've empowered countless young minds to reach for the stars, providing access to top-notch curriculum and enriching experiences that rival the best in the city.

But when the sun shines bright and school's out for summer, the learning doesn't stop at City Academy. Our 7-week Summer Program is a thrilling journey designed to keep young hearts and minds engaged and growing. Imagine a summer filled not just with fun, but with academic exploration, team-building adventures, and unforgettable experiences!

From academic sessions that spark curiosity to co-curricular activities that ignite passions, our Summer Program is a whirlwind of excitement. City Academy scholars delve into fascinating subjects, explore new interests, and build friendships that last a lifetime. And let's not forget the thrill of our excursions, where the world becomes their classroom, and special interest activities uncover hidden talents.

In 2023, City Academy strengthened the academic portion of its Summer Program to address concerns around the effects of the pandemic and “summer slide” on our scholars. One key enhancement was retaining City Academy educators to facilitate the educational program of the day.

The results were amazing! When test results for Summer Program attendees was compared with students who did not attend the Summer Program, we found:

Students who attended City Academy’s summer school saw an average growth of 8 months in reading vs. an average growth of 3 months from the students who did not attend summer school.

Students who attended City Academy’s summer school saw an average growth of 1.7 months in math vs. an average decline of 3 months from those students who did not attend summer school.

In short, our Summer Program made a significant impact on reading growth and demonstrated growth in place of decline in math. City Academy leadership attributes this success to two things: student presence on our campus and City Academy teacher involvement.
