Coastal Virginia Conservancy (CVC), the only locally based land trust in the 757, conserves land, restores damaged waterways, and offers innovative solutions to help our community adapt to the environmental challenges of tomorrow. CVC understands the balance between community health, environmental quality, and economic development, and creates smart, innovative solutions to help preserve land in our bustling community. In this populated coastal corridor, CVC concentrates on preserving smaller urban parcels that other trusts may overlook. In our urbanized region, open space is rare and important!

CVC works hard each day to protect, preserve, and restore the land and water of Hampton Roads. To date, CVC has conserved over 1,200 acres of forests, wetlands, and shorelines providing open space to recreate, reducing flooding, enhancing resilience, protecting critical habitat, and ensuring clean air and water. As the stewards of these conserved properties, CVC ensures these natural assets are protected to provide the greatest public benefit. Removing pollutants and cleaning the river bottom, CVC continues to improve areas along the Elizabeth River as it has in Paradise Creek and Money Point. 

CVC is committed to saving the last remaining open spaces in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton and beyond. With only 10% of land in the Elizabeth River watershed left undeveloped and even less in others, paired with the ever-increasing pressure of development, the time to act is now!

Your donation to CVC ensures wild, wooded spaces for the beautiful, diverse wildlife that share our Hampton Roads region, while also providing soft trails to walk on and verdant canopies under which to relax and revive. It will provide clean water and healthy habitats for our shoreline neighbors and the fish on which they rely. It will ensure that our children have quiet spaces in which to create and explore.
