The Cold War Museum

A nonprofit organization

$22,090 raised by 65 donors

100% complete

$20,000 Goal

** We did it! When the dust settled, we surpassed our goal of $20,000 for the Give Local Piedmont Campaign as shown on this page. However, I know that there is one $1,500 Fidelity 401K distribution, one $3,000 check, and one $1,000 check that was sent which did not reach us in time to be counted by Give Local Piedmont as part of our total contributions raised on May 12. However, we will count those contributions as part of our totals since we know they are in route. That means that a total of $26,065 was raised during this campaign.  A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who supported The Cold War Museum during our spring fundraising campaign. We could not have reached our Give Local Piedmont 2026 goal without you!

This fundraising platform will remain active for a few days until we switch back over to our standard fundraising platform. In the meantime, it is never too late to make a contribution to The Cold War Museum. If you do make a contribution to after May 12, it may not show in the Give Local Piedmont campaign total above, but please know we will receive your contribution. Thank you for your continued support.

***********

Tuesday, May 12, 2026 is our most important fundraiser of the year, Give Local Piedmont. To see what we have been doing recently, view our most recent newsletter: Cold War Times Spring 2026

None of these activities comes without cost, and even basic service provided to walk-in visitors requires exhibit space rental (our building), storage space rental, utilities, insurance, and other related costs. Like many museums in the U.S., our main income comes from tax deductible donations received throughout the year, with our Give Local Piedmont and Giving Tuesday capital campaigns leading the way.

It’s especially gratifying to be able to tell you that we’ve received $7,000 in matching grants from anonymous donors. That means that for every dollar you donate to the museum thru Give Local Piedmont during the campaign will be doubled. You could tap into that matching money with your own gift as early as April 28, which is the start of early giving, but if it’s convenient for you to wait with your gift, the best way to help the Museum is to make your donation between 3PM and 4PM EST on May 12. During this special one-hour Power Hour block, donations received will not only be doubled though the matching grants but will also count towards Give Local Piedmont's own cash prizes we are eligible to receive.

Either way, the Board and staff of the Museum hope you will join us in making a donation via Give Local Piedmont. Thanks in advance for what you can do to support our efforts to honor Cold War veterans, preserve Cold War history, and educate future generations about this time period.

Sincerely,

Francis Gary Powers, Jr.
