Community Blood Bank of NWPA and WNY

The Community Blood Bank of NWPA & WNY has proudly served as the exclusive provider of blood products for our region since 1966, delivering to 16 hospitals and seven Stat MedEvac bases. Our mission is to maintain a secure blood supply for all patients in our partner communities.

The Community Blood Bank is a unique non-profit agency in that a traditional donation for us means a donation of blood. Our community is full of wonderful people who step up every day to help fill the need for the patients in the local hospitals. It can be difficult to raise monetary donations, since our supporters are already giving so much of themselves. This further highlights the need for fundraising events. With your support, we can continue make sure blood is available for every parent, child, friend, and neighbor in our region.

This Erie Gives Day, we aim to raise $50,000 for our Distinguished Donors Program and the purchase of a new blood mobile.

Bloodmobiles allow the blood bank to bring the donation process directly to communities, workplaces, schools, and events. This makes it significantly easier for more people to donate, reaching donors who might not be able to travel to a fixed donor center. A new bloodmobile will open up new locations and increase the frequency of mobile drives, directly translating to more units of life-saving blood collected.

Each year, we provide 10 scholarships to high school seniors who are dedicated blood donors. The program inherently educates high school students about the vital need for blood donation and the impact it has on their community. This early exposure can lead to a lifelong habit of donating. By recognizing and rewarding high school students for their blood donations, CBB is actively cultivating the next generation of committed donors.
