The goals and objectives of Compassion for Lives are to focus on human services and workforce development (adult reintegration, job readiness, health/advocacy, life skills, mental health/substance abuse, mentoring, parenting skills, entrepreneur training, job placement and housing) for individuals who may be experiencing barriers due to disadvantaged conditions. This holistic approach is crucial in helping to revitalize the individual and the family unit as well improving the Shreveport community. 

Our community needs to address the social and economic disadvantages of our community members (offenders, returning citizens, individuals from low-income and disadvantaged circumstances) may face such as educational attainment, employment skills, lack of social skills, and health concerns (physical and mental, substance abuse).

The services provided to our participants (returning citizens with successful reintegration and low-income disadvantaged):

  • Motivational Interviewing- Discover their own interest in considering and/or making a change in their life.
  • Employment
  • Family Support
  • Social Service Applications (SSA, Medicaid, SNAP Benefits)
  • Family Support
  • Voluntary Involvement in Self-improvement programs (Anger Management, Substance Abuse, Parenting, Coping Skills)
  • GED/HISET Training
  • Higher Education – Partnership with Northwest Louisiana Technical College
