Conversations on the Green (COG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on the belief that a healthy democracy depends not only on facts and institutions, but on citizens’ capacity to engage one another with rigor, curiosity, and respect. America has long defined itself as more than the sum of its parts—an enduring idea that weaves competing priorities into a vast, multiethnic tapestry stretching from coast to coast.

In a time when that fabric is strained by polarization, COG produces public affairs programming that restores the practice of thoughtful exchange and fosters dialogue across ideological divides.

Through its flagship PBS program, Common Ground with Jane Whitney, COG convenes voices from across the ideological spectrum, illuminating complex issues through the lived experiences of people whose stories encourage viewers to rediscover shared humanity and take the first steps toward common ground.

Expanding this mission, Sacred Ground with Tim Daly explores the defining environmental challenges of our time. Through stories of science, stewardship, and resilience, the series highlights the people and ideas rising to meet a changing climate while honoring the enduring bond between Americans and the land.

Together, COG’s programming seeks to cultivate informed, empathetic citizens and to renew the democratic and environmental principles essential to our shared future.
