Market Umbrella

Market Umbrella's mission is to cultivate the power of farmers markets to drive economic and community health in the region. We envision a New Orleans where nutritious food is accessible and affordable so that both families and farmers prosper. To this aim, Market Umbrella operates the Crescent City Farmers Markets (CCFM), three weekly open-air markets hosting over 80 local food producers, as well as several local and statewide nutrition education and incentive programs.

For almost 30 years, Market Umbrella has run the Crescent City Farmers Markets and over the years, has added critical nutrition incentive and education programs including Market Match, doubling SNAP dollars spent at markets and with partners, Greaux the Good, a statewide nutrition incentive program partnering with Louisiana farmers markets to implement nutrition incentive programs, Meet Me at the Market, our field trip program for preK - 3rd grade New Orleans students, Market Mommas Club supporting breastfeeding WIC eligible mothers, among others. This work has largely been successful with support from federal grants, and partnerships with state entities also using federal funds.
