CRRC of Canyon Lake, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

What is the Big Give SA? The Big Give began in 2014 as a way to support nonprofit organizations across South Central Texas with their funding needs, which in turn strengthens all of our communities. It’s a call to action—a chance for everyone to come together and give back... and our Community Resource & Recreation Center of Canyon Lake depends on BIG GIVING days like this to keep our programs strong and ensure we can continue serving our neighbors in need.

The story of the Community
Resource and Recreation Center (CRRC) of Canyon Lake and some highlights
from serving our community in 2025:

Over 40 years ago, a handful of Canyon Lake neighbors refused to let anyone in our community go hungry, feel alone, or be discarded. From that spirit, CRRC of Canyon Lake was born—a place where help is given freely, second chances are possible, and community is everything. Since then, CRRC has been the trusted neighbor families turn to in their hardest moments—meeting urgent needs, building lasting connections, and helping residents weather life’s storms. Sometimes it’s a bag of groceries, sometimes it’s help with rent, and sometimes it’s just a warm smile that says: you belong here.

Why CRRC Matters Now More Than Ever

Beneath Canyon Lake’s thriving community, real struggles grow. Housing costs have risen 84% in just five years. The cost of living is 14% higher than the Texas average. And 15% of our neighbors face hunger every single day. That’s where CRRC steps in—with resources, dignity, and hope.

  • In 2024, CRRC distributed food valued at over $1.3 million, totaling more than 370,000 pounds of food. This year, by the end of July 2025, we surpassed $1 million in food distributed. We have averaged 50 brand new clients visiting the food pantry every month in 2025.

  • Last year CRRC provided over $18,000 in utility assistance and more than $44,000 in rental assistance to help families stay in their homes.

    • Last year CRRC loaned out 389 pieces of durable medical equipment, helping neighbors maintain independence and mobility.
      • Our volunteers Volunteers delivered 347 meals to homebound seniors.

      • Our Recreation Center offers over 32 low-cost recreation classes per month connecting residents through health, fitness, and community—ranging from Silver Sneakers to pickleball to dance fitness.

      • Our Thrift Store provided more than $7,000 in voucher assistance so CRRC clients could shop for clothing and household necessities at no cost.

      Your Role in the Story

Your support fuels our mission. Every dollar you give stays right here in Canyon Lake—feeding neighbors, keeping families in their homes, and helping seniors stay connected. During the 24-hour Big Give, watch for match minutes—special times when your gift can unlock matching funds, stretching your donation even further. That means more meals on the table, more families with roofs overhead, and more hope where it’s needed most. Together, we can make this our biggest Big Give yet, but we cannot do it without you.

Let’s stand shoulder to shoulder, neighbor to neighbor, and ensure that no one in Canyon Lake is left behind.

The CRRC continues to support the community and we look forward to growing our programs and services to better support all of Canyon Lake and surrounding areas in need. CRRC depends on support from our community, to support our neighbors that count on us.

      Who We Are

Located in the middle of the second-fastest growing county in the nation, the Community Resource & Recreation Center (CRRC) of Canyon Lake (TX) knew in 2013 it was going to have to grow to meet needs in the community. As Comal County grew, the needy families in Canyon Lake were growing as quickly as the affluent class.
CRRC already provides emergency food assistance, financial assistance and recreational activities to families in the community. Youth who have grown up going through programs at CRRC are now bringing up their children in the same fashion.
But client growth, interviews and community surveys led CRRC staff and directors to consider an expansion of offerings. Specifically: transportation problems made it hard to get to providers and services. With community backing the organization embarked on a mission to transport the providers and services to the community; for the community.
Today, CRRC has moved into an 11,000 square-foot facility that will house the food pantry and financial assistance along with mental health counseling, medical clinics, legal services, cooking classes, prescription assistance, jobs training and federal benefit registration for many years to come.
