Community Visions Unlimited (CVU) was founded in 1994 as a nonprofit, dedicated to revitalizing New Orleans neighborhoods through art, beautification and empowerment.

CVU's latest projects are: Metro New Orleans Street Gallery a utility box program where local artists help beautify neighborhoods through their artwork and are paid a stipend. Over 80 artists participate in the art box project and many have received additional commission work from the CVU project. CVU works Downtown, Gentilly, Uptown, Claiborne Corridor, Irish Channel, Lakefront, Carrollton, University, Mid-City, Bio-Medical District, New Orleans East, Broadmoor, Kenner, Metairie, Algiers, River Ridge and St. Bernard. CVU prides itself on working with the neighborhoods to create art that reflects their culture. Another project is a putting in small gardens that help beautify and bring positive attention to an area. Through these projects CVU has created a strong network of neighborhood associations throughout New Orleans Metro area to assist us with our mission in rebuilding. 375 art boxes completed and 2 murals.

Over the past year, Community Visions Unlimited (CVU) has been a wonderful partner and asset to our beautification work at Keep Algiers Beautiful, the official, local affiliate to Keep Louisiana Beautiful.

In 2024 Keep Algiers Beautiful worked with CVU to paint four (4) utility boxes throughout Algiers which is a major section of the city of New Orleans. Algiers is the only “Westbank” portion of New Orleans proper along the Mississippi River.

CVU’s work has acutely improved the visual aesthetics in Algiers both in 2024 and over prior years. On a recent radio show where I talked about KAB’s entire work, I spoke about the partnership with CVU; and the host described the Algiers utility boxes as “stunningly beautiful.”

CVU’s New Orleans Street Gallery Program is a tremendous resource and bright light in our city and metro area. It is well managed and so easy to work with. Production times, if you will, are concise. The artists are creative and nimble. It is a great program to beautify communities and support local artists which New Orleans has many of.

We highly recommend this project and hope they receive further funding to expand it to even more neighborhoods.

We look forward to raising money to get the other boxes in our neighborhood sponsored and painted as soon as possible.We appreciate the way CVU finds local artists to help beautify our own neighborhoods in such a creative way.
