Despurate House Cats

Despurate House Cats is a foster-based cat rescue located in New Milford, Connecticut, dedicated to helping cats who might otherwise be overlooked: strays, community cats, and those in need of extra time, care, and understanding. We believe every cat deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to land in a home where they can truly thrive.

Our work focuses on rescuing cats from outdoor colonies and unsafe situations, assessing their needs, and determining the best path forward, whether that’s adoption into a loving home or humane Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for cats who are not suited for indoor life. Through TNR, we aim to reduce overpopulation, improve colony health, and support caregivers who are doing their best with limited resources.

At our core, we are committed to thoughtful, responsible rescue. That means prioritizing proper medical care, taking the time to understand each cat’s personality and needs, and matching them with homes that set everyone up for success. We value education, transparency, and collaboration, and we work closely with veterinarians, volunteers, fosters, and community members to create lasting impact.

Despurate House Cats exists not just to save individual cats, but to build a more compassionate and informed community around animal welfare. Every cat we help and every person who supports our mission moves us closer to a future where fewer cats are born into hardship and more are given the lives they deserve.
