Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts

The mission of the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts is to present culturally diverse, live performing arts and educational experiences that inspire audiences and artistically transform our community.

The Webb Center was established to champion the arts and provide quality educational programs to the greater Wickenburg area. The Center opened with its inaugural season in 2001, offering professional music, theatre and dance performances with touring artists as well as "Arts for Kids" educational events. "Camp Imagination," a summer arts camp, was created in 2003 allowing students to explore performing, technical and visual arts genres. During the fall of 2009 the Webb Center further expanded its body of work by implementing the "Made in Wickenburg" artist residency program where a company lives in Wickenburg while developing a new work. The theatre is currently celebrating its twentieth season and attracts 63% of its audience from outside of town; creating an economic driving force for local restaurants, retail shops and hotels. Funds raised through Arizona Gives Day will help continue these vital programs in our community.

On December 5, 2016 the Webb Center hosted a "Conversation with the Artist" outreach program for adult patrons with Artistic Director and Choreographer, Bill T. Jones. Jones described his training, inspiration for his dance pieces and why the Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Company wished to participate in a two-week "Made in Wickenburg" residency program. During this event a retired Computer Engineer, who is self-described as "new to the art world and interested in learning more," posed the question "When I watch dance, how do I know what it should mean?" To which Jones replied, "There are no wrong answers. What I may have intended it to mean and what you get out of it may be two entirely different things. And that is OK." With that open-minded invitation from Jones, the gentleman became more eager to experience modern dance. He later attended a BTJ/AZ Open Rehearsal and a Jessica Lang Dance performance.
