Dignity communities have been active across the U.S. and Canada for over fifty years. Called by God's justice and mercy rather than placated by certain church teachings, the Dignity community continually chooses to bring public awareness to the wholeness and holiness of LGBTQIA+ lives and families. We act locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to offer advocacy, education, support and community in the face of civil and ecclesial ignorance and injustice. We will not rest until our church and society mirror the face of God in the treatment of all God's children.

Your support during 2023 helped fuel a remarkable year for DignityUSA. Our voice was heard throughout our global church in many ways, and we witnessed notable progress. Donors like you helped send our largest contingent of young leaders to World Youth Day in Lisbon as visible signs of LGBTQIA+ and allies commitment to our Catholic faith, and their message got worldwide media coverage. Our presence in Rome during the Synod Assembly included meetings with Vatican officials, Synod delegates, and diplomats, where we were able to discuss the impact of official church teachings on our community. Having Pope Francis officially meet with a DignityUSA leader was a strong signal of solidarity, and his encouragement to keep on with our work has energized many. Within weeks, we saw two formerly unimaginable declarations from the Vatican. The ability of transgender people to be baptized and to serve as godparents was affirmed, as were blessings for same-sex couples. Your support helped make all of this, and so much more, possible.

There's still more work to be done. With your help, we'll continue to be the voice of LGBTQIA+ Catholics and respond to injustices wherever they arise.
