Clare's House was inspired by Uncle Norm who, at a later stage in life, wanted to adopt a dog, but wondered who would take care of it if anything happened to him.

We exist because we believe individuals who encounter temporary medical challenges should not have to worry about their beloved dog, and no dogs should face the anxiety or fear of not being in good, safe homes while their owners are unable to care for them.

We help both the dogs AND their humans. We are focused on families struggling to keep their beloved pets with them at home. We believe people who are dealing with temporary challenges like hospitalization, injury, physical rehab or illness shouldn’t have to deal with added stress and worry about their beloved pets. Clare’s House steps in and offers helping hands and hope for these owners by providing experienced and caring fostering or dog walking until both owner and furry friend can be safely home together.

We’re not a shelter or a pet sitting service. For the dog, we’re a home…for a day or for a while longer. For the owner, we’re peace of mind when they need it most.

To achieve our mission and vision, we need your help! We always appreciate donations to support our not-for-profit organization. We also need compassionate volunteers who can care for dogs in our house, who have space in their own homes and hearts to offer temporary fostering, and who can help with dog walking for individuals facing short-term mobility challenges. If you're interested, please complete an application on the Clare's House website.

In addition, we have launched a capital campaign to help fund our new house where pups in need can call home as long as necessary.

Thanks to your support, we are extremely excited about what we do and all the great things on the horizon!
