Downriver Chess

We are devoted to extending the role of chess in American society and in the New Orleans area. We promote the study and knowledge of the game of chess, for its own sake as an art and enjoyment, but also as a means for the improvement of society.

We run a chess club that meets three times a week in the city of New Orleans and serve more than 1,000 unique players.
