Downtown Food Pantry

A nonprofit organization

To feed the hungry of Lamar County with no regard to race, religion, sex or country of origin. To deliver the food as efficiently as possible always being cognizant of the resources we have been given.

Lamar County has one of the highest food insecurity rates in the state at 23%, which means 1:4 people in the county don't know where their next meal is coming from. In 2018 we distributed 1.85 million nutritious meals to more than 12,250 individuals (25% of the county's population). Distribution happens two times per week where we see more than 700 families. We also distribute food to 3 satellite pantries in Blossom, Roxton and Powderly (small communities in Lamar County). We collaborate with 4 local school districts to provide a weekend feeding program to over 250 children called Food4Kids. We are a proud partner agency of the North Texas Food Bank and United Way of Lamar County. Every dollar received provides 4 more nutritious meals. During the East Texas Giving Day we hope to raise enough money to provide 8,000 healthy meals to our hungry neighbors.
