Deer Valley Education Foundation

To foster excellence in education by funding programs that enhance the capabilities of Deer Valley schools to stimulate students' academic achievement and enrich the learning environment. We provide opportunities for student scholarships and teacher grants that in turn bring innovative and dynamic learning experiences to our children.

Our goal is to meet the needs of every child in every school. The main purpose of the DVEF is to support Deer Valley schools, teachers and students. For over 30 years, DVEF has raised funds for educational programs for DVUSD classrooms. DVUSD is the 5th largest school district in Arizona, providing service to 37 campuses (K-12) and servicing 36,261 students. Schools do not receive state and federal funding for classroom pilot projects or expanding programs, and this is where we can help. Over the past 10 years, DVEF has contributed almost $1 million directly to DVUSD schools, teachers, students and programs.

The Deer Valley Education Foundation raises funds for special classroom enrichment programs such as reading enhancement projects. This school year, DVEF was able to purchase and distribute well over 1,000 books to 27 of our school libraries for the Battle of the Books reading incentive program. This one program touches almost 650 fifth and sixth grade students that comprise the 216 teams who come together to read books and demonstrate their abilities that test their knowledge of the books they read. These competitions are a lively academic competition. The Battle of the Books program improves reading comprehension, builds vocabulary, and teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship.

DVEF awards Impact Grants to teachers to directly support special classroom or school projects and/or initiatives. This year, the Deer Valley Education Foundation presented 28 grants to 30 recipients from 19 Deer Valley Schools totaling $12,558. These grants will impact well over 4,300 students.

DVEF further presents students with science challenges and math projects, opens the doors to music appreciation, and showcases art for hundreds of students in DVUSD. The DVEF Space Academy Program will provide winning DVUSD 7th or 8th grade student(s) with tuition and travel expenses to attend Space Academy in Huntsville, Alabama during the summer of 2016. In addition, we fund yearly scholarships to DVUSD students pursuing a career in health care field.

We also do all we can to honor our teachers and school nurses. Over the past 10 years, DVEF has contributed almost $1 million directly to DVUSD schools, teachers, students, and programs.
