Earth Guardians

A nonprofit organization

Since 1992, Earth Guardians has been at the forefront of empowering and developing youth and young adults into climate justice leaders. We are an international intergenerational organization dedicated to training youth at the intersection of climate, environmental and social justice. Our mission is fueled by youth agency, community building, and nonviolent direct action, employing art, civic engagement and grassroots projects to address climate change and environmental degradation globally.

Earth Guardians excels in mobilizing global youth Crews for community-driven climate action while shaping young leaders. Our leadership, predominantly under 30, BIPOC, and female, emphasizes diversity and empowerment. We prioritize underserved communities, offering resources and training for holistic climate justice approaches. Over the past five years, we've provided educational resources to 20,000 classrooms, planted 50,000 trees globally, and supported youth-led projects with $85,000 in grants. During COVID-19, we distributed $10 million in PPE to Native tribes and registered 25,000 young voters. Our youth leaders have spoken at major global events like COP and the UN, advocating for climate action. This year, we've planted tens of thousands of trees in Togo, Cameroon, and India, restored forests, and trained locals in sustainable practices. Our Indigenous Youth Leadership Initiative trains Native youth in environmental justice, and our Speakers' Bureau amplifies youth voices through events like Earth Voices: Inspiring Shift (E.V.I.S.), engaging underserved youth in climate action. Our Crew network spans six continents, addressing local and global environmental challenges, supported by grants, mentorship, and training.

Testimonials

"EG has helped BIPOC youth, such as myself, achieve our dreams when it comes to actively creating the world we wish to live in. EG has given us a community and a family to thrive with us!" Tyler Massias (they/he), 23, Speaker Bureau Director

"There are not a lot of spaces where indigenous youth can radically imagine the future with their community. Earth Guardians' Indigenous Youth Initiative training is one of those spaces."
